ACT II

Six months later. Fueled by SLICK, the kids have become a band of outlaws, learning how to get by on their wits and a variety of cons and hustles. They are in a celebratory mood. (24/7/365-OUT ON THE STREET) News spreads that JIMMY is out of jail and is coming back(D’YA HEAR ‘BOUT JIMMY) ANNA, shaken by the news, reveals her confusion to herself, now SLICK’S girl, yet still having feelings for JIMMY.(JIMMY’S COMIN’BACK). JIMMY comes to her and begs forgiveness for having abandoned her. She tells him(IT’S TOO LATE).

The City Kids enter and acknowledge JIMMY’S new status, cool enough now to be one of them. LENA taunts him for still wanting ANNA(DON’T CALL IT LOVE) JIMMY finds DANNY who confesses his guilt for betraying their friendship. DANNY invites JIMMY to join the City Kids(I’M GLAD YOU MADE IT THROUGH) SLICK no longer seeing JIMMY as a threat, accepts him into the group. JIMMY is finally in(ONLY PARTIES ALLOWED) SLICK works the kids into a frenzy to take over Jefferson Street. BADDBOY and his crew confront SLICK and a fight ensues. BADDBOY humiliates SLICK and as he walks sway, SLICK pulls a gun. BADDBOY draws and fires. The bullet meant for SLICK hits DANNY instead and he is killed. In a panic, the kids scatter(POST MORTEM). JIMMY, shattered, cries out. In his despair, JIMMY hears the voice of DANNY’S spirit, speaking words of truth that MR.DOE has been trying to communicate from the beginning. (THE TRUTH INSIDE)

Hours later, the kids, broken, ask themselves (HOW WE GONNA GET IT TOGETHER?) SLICK interrupts their melancholy and tries to regain control, inciting them to avenge DANNY’S death. JIMMY, armed with his new wisdom, confronts SLICK telling him that vengance is the wrong choice, SLICK, sensing his diminishing power demands that the kids choose, either to go with him or JIMMY. The kids feel what JIMMY is feeling and one by one they turn their back on SLICK who exits in disgust.

(FINALE) JIMMY reaches out to ANNA saying we must to learn from our mistakes and and make the choice to find a better way. The kids understand. Sensing that maybe they’ll escape all this and have a chance at a better life.
